
The Challenge
Most job boards suffer from the same problem on both sides: employers post a job and get hundreds of irrelevant applications, while job seekers apply to dozens of roles and hear nothing back. The signal-to-noise ratio is broken. The client wanted to build a smarter two-sided marketplace where matching did the heavy lifting — surfacing the right candidates to employers and the right jobs to job seekers, without requiring either party to wade through irrelevant results. The platform had to be accessible enough for non-technical hiring managers and blue-collar job seekers, not just recruiters and engineers.
Our Solution
We built JOBWORTH using Vue.js for a clean, accessible frontend and Django for the matching and data backend. Both employers and job seekers build structured profiles — employers define role requirements precisely (skills, experience, location, salary range); job seekers specify what they offer and what they want. An AI-powered matching engine compares the two sides and ranks results for each party — jobs ranked by fit for candidates, candidates ranked by fit for employers. Advanced search and filtering allow manual refinement on top of the matching. A built-in direct messaging system lets both parties connect and negotiate within the platform, keeping the entire hiring conversation in one thread without email chains. The interface was tested with non-technical users and iteratively simplified until both sides could complete their core actions in under 5 minutes.
